MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
November 2004


A. Full Members
Full membership with the RRC is open to those reinsurance firms actively writing predominately, at the time of the Council’s AGM, open market reinsurance business emanating from Canada and who maintain an underwriting office in Canada with a minimum net written premium of $10,000,000 in the preceding calendar year. Full membership entitles you to notice of, and attendance at all meetings of Full Members. Each Full Member is represented by one Director and is entitled to full voting privileges, subject to paragraphs six and eleven of these bylaws.

B. Associate Members
Associate membership eligibility is restricted to those reinsurance firms and corporations engaged in, at the time of the Council’s AGM, open market reinsurance business, emanating from Canada and are registered with either the Federal or Provincial Departments of Insurance. Associate members are entitled to receive notice of, and attend all meetings.

C: Correspondent Members

Correspondent Members are members who actively write business in Canada as reinsurers with respect to reinsurance business emanating from Canada and either are registered with the Federal or Provincial Departments of Insurance but are not writing predominately open market business, or are not registered with either the Federal or Provincial Departments of Insurance.

For all classes of member, membership classification is assessed annually at the time of the annual meeting of the council. The financial statements of members are used from the past calendar year to assess premium volumes.
